Claridge’s, historically a showcase of the very best of British design talent commissioned LINLEY to create a series of unique interior schemes throughout the hotel. LINLEY has achieved three principal formats of execution, ‘Art Deco’, ‘traditional’ and a ‘hybrid’.
Distilling the Art Deco design splendour of this iconic hotel, the LINLEY team focused on lavish materials, elaborate decorative designs, indulgent fabrics and sleek silhouettes – for the main lobby doors and several suites.
Beyond cutting edge at the time, Claridge’s Art Deco remodelling in the 1920’s, transformed the hotel and it is remarkably fortunate that many of these original features and wonderful designs remain untouched today, allowing Claridge’s to retain its title of Art Deco jewel of Mayfair.
LINLEY has been entirely sympathetic to this spirit and ambience. Original Deco features, such as glass, or silver fireplaces, clocks or wall lights, have been restored and in many cases have become the focal points of the room.
Original 1920’s antiques have been matched with specially designed LINLEY pieces, complementing them in style, texture and feel. The design team spent time researching the original modernist carpet designs by Marion Dorn. Recreating the style to compliment the Art Deco features.
